Think ahead when creating a prenuptial agreement

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Family Law on Monday, June 24, 2013. A good prenuptial agreement contains detailed information pertaining to significant assets and debts. The best agreements are also those that cover all types of possible situations, from spouses becoming involved in each other’s businesses to one spouse staying home to take care of children. The issue with prenuptial agreements is that many times an engaged girlfriend or boyfriend feels weird bringing it up. Some worry about coming off as being too self-serving. However, what is important to keep in mind is that marriage is

More dads being awarded shared custody

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Family Law on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. The court system in Missouri used to favor mothers when it came to child custody decisions. However, now with changes in many American families, judges are awarding split custody with dad getting equal time to raise the kids. In looking at how divorce and subsequent settlements have changed over time, one has to first look at the typical family in the 1950s. Ochocinco jailed in domestic violence case

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Domestic Violence on Monday, June 10, 2013. Domestic violence should always be taken very seriously. How to survive the separation while living together

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Legal Separation on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. In Missouri there is no legal separation requirement. However, for 30 days after filing for divorce a husband and wife need to be living apart. This does not necessarily mean living in separate houses though. Rather, it can mean living in the same house, yet sleeping in separate rooms. It is this period of separation that can be quite troubling, especially for small children who want to know what is going on and if mom and dad are going to be getting a divorce.

Missouri legislation concerning foster children care

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Family Law on Friday, May 24, 2013. The Missouri legislature has taken steps to make it easier for individuals to assume the role of being foster parents in our state.  Missouri Senate Bill 47 allows for distant relatives and individuals with family ties to receive additional subsidization for taking on the role of guardianship for children. The Missouri legislature seems to be aware of the important and vital role that foster parents can play.  Providing a stable and often permanent home for children is an invaluable benefit for everyone. Too often
